jena - SPARQL Queries with SimpleTcProvider -

i'm new jena, clerezza, , osgi you'll forgive ignorance... i'm trying use apache stanbol make general enhancement engine takes string parameter sparql query , works on enhancements produced enhancement chain far. use jenasparqlengine , simpletcprovider create tcmanager can execute sparql queries strings on metadata of content item. works fine read queries, when try use update queries parser exceptions. i'm guessing have use (jena) updateaction perform update operations. can still use simpletcprovider? should use fuseki? if have examples appreciated!
